Eclypse PromDance This mare brings together some good old blood with more modern lines. Her sire is the well known buckskin Black Saddle Starbuck and her dam is from the Charlestown breeding program which produced some stylish show Morgans. Starbuck is ¾ Western Working Family and ¼ Lippitt. The Lippitt is Marvelous Ideal, that handsome, correct, prolific sire who brings some very good Lippitt blood to Starbuck. Ideal is the sire of Starbuck’s dam. Most of the rest of the pedigree goes to the old California branch of the Western Working Family. On the sire line, his great grandsire, Dancin is a grandson of Dapper Dan and he also carries Linden Sonfield, Brown Knox Lu and El Don. Starbuck’s paternal great granddam is by a George Cross (Wyo.) stallion and out of a California mare. Starbuck’s sire is out of a Beckridge mare who was by Sonfield and out of a Roland Hill mare. The sire of Starbuck’s second dam is by King-Salaman, that versatile handsome fellow whose pedigree includes Blackman three times. The dam has Dancin and Dapper Dan. The bottom line great granddam has Dancin once again as well as Dapper Dan, Brown Knox Lu, and Linden Sonfield. The same horses repeat over and over in Starbuck’s pedigree bringing an intense heritage from old California. Charlestown Topaz is by UVM Promise, that high-stepping, cocky show stallion. Topaz’s dam is out of a daughter of U S Menmar, Government breeding, and out of Windswept Candy. Candy was by California King and out of Little Sweetheart. California King, who sired 84 registered get, had a sire line going to Revere and Clark Ringling’s (of Nevada) breeding. The rest of his pedigree is old California, based on Sellman’s breeding. Little Sweetheart, bred by rancher Sid Spencer, was by her working stud Antman, and out of a mare sired by Sun Down Morgan who was all Sellman bred, and out of a Brunk mare who was a double granddaughter of Jubilee King. “Latte” brings a nice heritage of the old California Morgans along with some of the fancier Government based show horses.
